Welcome to the BCSC!
Throughout this web site, the BCSC staff has attempted to give you a sampling of the many opportunities
available as a Stanford student. You will find information on our Black Volunteer Student Organizations, long-standing
Black institutions, such as the BCSC (The Black House) and Ujamaa,
the Black Faculty, Black administrators and friends of the Black community.
The Black Experience at Stanford is a very diverse one. We celebrate the African Diaspora and encourage
students to further explore the rich diversity of our community. From performing at Hip-Hop or Poetry Night to showing
off their B-Ball skills in the 3-on-3 Hoops tournament, to competing for cash by using their intellect in the Knowledge
Bowl or fighting for social justice, our students can find their niche in the Black Community. We provide a safe space
for them to use their talents and discover new ones.
Whether you are a current student, prospective student, alum or visitor, we hope that you feel the energy
and spirit of family in this web site. The Stanford Black Community is rooted in rich history, which has led us to a vibrant
present, and will take us into a cutting-edge future. If you are ever on campus or near the house, please drop by and meet
Jan Barker, the Director, and Carolus Brown, the Assistant Director. We would like to personally welcome you into "the family".
