Students at Black Plaza

One of our strongest assets at the Black Community Services Center is our amazing community. Our Community Building Committee provide opportunities for us all to come together, relax, and let our hair down. They aim to make our center an inclusive place for everyone whether it's their first time stopping by or a regular! It is impossible to list all the countless ways we come together but here's a snapshot of our programming:

Once Every Quarter

  • If You Really Knew Me provides an opportunity for students to hear how faculty and staff discovered their passions and careers. Community Building curates these discussions based on the gaps in career discussions they see happening at Stanford. This space provides an amazing opportunity for students to get their questions answered and network.
  • Digital Get Down started during the hight of the pandemic to create a space where our community could come together online, listen to a themed playlist, and take a moment to just exist. The program was so popular that our committee decided to keep the party going in-person.  Click here to access our Digital Get Down playlists on Spotify!

Winter Quarter

  • While Black Liberation Month takes everyone at the Black Community Services Center to achieve, Our Community Building Committee supports our Assistant Dean / Associate Director in planning our logistics. This means they run our Black Liberation Month logo contest, and help to plan and run our final event that happens the final Saturday of Black Liberation Month. We could not do Black Liberation Month without their hard work and dedication.
