Black Liberation Month
Black Liberation Month 2026
Our 2025-2026 Black Liberation Month theme was Working Towards Well: Progress in Every Move, Wellness in Every Step! Programming from the Black Community Services Center focused on how we take care of ourselves as individuals, so we can take care of the communities that nourish us. We aimed to highlight the 5 spaces of wellness: mental, emotional, physical, social, and spiritual health.

Our theme was Food Justice is Justice for All. This theme celebrates the importance of food, while asking the community to think about the role of food, and lack thereof, as a function of society. With global warming, food deserts, and famines affecting so many of us, BCSC feels 2025 was a great time to consider such an important resource. Continuing with this theme furthered the conversation of the power of narrative as a tool for understanding, healing, and empowerment. We gather for and around food, so let’s celebrate its power! We invite you to think creatively and expansively about food and its impact on our lives. Simone Bart-Plange (℅ 2027) and Jack Quale (℅ 2028) already kicked us off by creating 2025’s BLM logo.
