Sidney Dillard Financial Savviness Lecture Series

Sidney Dillard, Class of 1984 has donated to the Black Community Services Center(BCSC) for the creation of a Financial Savviness Series. As a first generation student, Sidney wanted to support an initiative that would impact the community in ways that would not only create financial stability, but foster growth and wealth. After several meetings with students, Jan Barker Alexander, Director of the BCSC, identified that this series would fill a need of many students in the Black Community. The series kicked off with office hours by the Financial Aid Office in the BCSC, along with an Intellectual Roundtable entitled The Psychological Cost of Social Class Status and Classism on College campuses. Over the year, students can expect workshops on budgeting, credit cards, loans, investing, and more. "I am delighted to support the BCSC Financial Savviness Series. As a first generationcollege student, there were many gaps that I had to fill along the way. It is my hope that this series will help current students establish a great foundation in personal financial awareness and understanding."
