Application Open: Graduate Student Scholars in Residence

We are hiring two students to join our Graduate Student Scholar in Residence Program. These graduate students will be responsible for fostering engagement between Black undergraduate and graduate students as well as assisting with creating entry points for current graduate students to engage with the Black Community Services Center. There will also be opportunities for the person in this role to connect their research interests to practice in the center. Hired graduate students will assume one of roles listed below.  

Graduate Student Scholar in Residence Position #1

  • Work with our undergraduate Alumni Engagement Committee to curate and facilitate the BCSC Networking in Action (NIA) Series. This series is dedicated to creating spaces for sustained engagement, innovation, scholarship, and community-building among Black graduate students and alumni at Stanford. 

  • Stanford-HBCU Exchange program - Work with BCSC Associate Dean & Director to oversee program (Co-facilitate info sessions, review applications, review and revise partnership agreements with participating HBCU's). Click here to learn more about the program.

  • Work with our Centers for Equity, Learning, and Community Graduate Student Liaison to create more opportunities for Black Graduate students to engage with each other through the BCSC.

Graduate Student Scholar in Residence Position #2

  • Be the liaison between the Black Men's Guild and the Black Community Services Center. This does include helping to coordinate their quarterly gatherings.

Responsibilities, Hours & Compensation

  • $2000 / quarter
  • 8-10 hrs/week
  • Fall Retreat, September 21-24
  • NGSO welcome, September 19 or 20
  • Performance Reviews (2)
  • Staff meetings 1x/month
  • Weekly Graduate Student Scholars in Residence Meetings
  • End of year report (1)
