Black CAPS Let's Talk in Community Virtual Sessions. Let's Talk sessions are web-bookable 25 minute consultative appointments with Black CAPS clinicians. These sessions are virtual and can be booked in the Vaden patient portal.

Winter Quarter Support Groups
Mixtape: Creativity and Mental Health Workshop for Black Students

Description: This outreach workshop series for Black creatives and creativity enthusiasts, will help participants use their creative outlets as tools to manage life stressors.
Dates and Times: 4 workshops in person on Thursdays 3:00-4:30pm starting 2/02/2023. Attend one or all of the workshops, each will be a different creative modality. Dates are: 02/02, 02/16, 03/02, 03/16
How to access: You can sign up on INTEREST LIST the Vaden Portal- go to "Groups and Workshops", and find INTEREST LIST: MIXTAPE and add your name. The facilitator will reach out to you to give details on the meeting place.

The Algorithm: Self-image Support Space for Black and Brown students

Description:The Algorithm is a group for Black and Brown students to unpack their self-image through conversation and explorative exercises. We intentionally make space for participants to (re)connect and embrace their authentic selves.
Dates and Times: Wednesdays 3:00-4:30 pm in-person starting February 1st
Dates are: 02/01, 2/08, 2/15, 2/22, 3/01, and 3/08
How to access: Meeting with a facilitator is required to join this group. You can sign up on the INTEREST LIST- The Algorithm: Self-image Support Space for Black and Brown Students on Vaden Portal rosters, in the "Groups and Workshops" section. The facilitator will reach out to you to schedule a pre-group meeting. Please sign up by Monday January 23rd to allow time for the facilitator to meet with you.

Rooted! Black Graduate Students Process Space

Description: Rooted! Is a support group for Black-identified Stanford graduate students that is designed to be a confidential space for students to speak their minds, build community, rest, connect with themselves, and learn coping skills for managing graduate life at Stanford. Graduate school is naturally stressful, rigorous, and will challenge you in unexpected ways. That stress can be compounded by identity, politics, isolation, and overall climate. Whether this is your first year or fifth year, we welcome you to join this group and get Rooted!
Dates and times: Virtual space, Wednesdays 3:30-5:00 8 sessions 1/25, 2/01, 2/08, 2/15, 2/22, 3/01, 3/08, 3/15
How to Access: Connecting with CAPS and attending a pre-group meeting with a group facilitator is required to join this group. Please call 650-723-3785 during business hours (8:30-5:00 weekdays) to connect and meet with a CAPS therapist, or message your therapist/contact person at CAPS, to determine if this group is right for you.
